The poem Somewhere, translated to English by Bernard Scudder. In Cold Was that Beauty: Icelandic Nature Poetry. Edited by Helga K. Einarsdóttir.
Somewhere
Far away behind
the four mountains
an owl sits on
a fencepost
stays awake
thinks of mice in the sallow grass
A car rases past
lightbeams
and the owl screws up its eyes in vexation
the mice escape from its sight into the sward
It was me driving the car
