Kings' Sagas

The Kings’ sagas are biographies of Nordic kings, composed in the 12th and 13th century, predominantly in Iceland but also in Norway. The majority of them document the lives of Norwegian kings, while a few Danish kings are also included.

Morkinskinna (meaning „mouldy parchement“) is among the best known Kings’ sagas, believed to have been composed in 1275. It was published in English in 2000 in a translation by Theodore M. Andersson and Kari Ellen Gade, by Cornell University Press.
