Reykjavik UNESCO City of Literature offered a poetry reading in 2013 on the 17th of June, Iceland National Day. The actresses Thelma María Jónsdottir, Hafdís Helga Helgadóttir and Katrín Helga Andrésdóttir read selection of poems written after the independence by Icelandic women. Here the read the poems "Voði" by Ágústína Jónsdóttir and "Ljóð um góðar stelpur" by Kristín Ómarsdóttir were read at the monument of Bríet Bjarnhéðinsdóttir (1856-1940), who fought for women's rights in the twentieth century.
